Travel and
Assessment Projects
Travel and Assessment Projects offer a unique opportunity for young people in OOHC to experience a therapeutic adventure.
An experienced therapeutic carer will tailor make a project to suit the needs and interests of the Young Person and align with the skillset of the carer.
Travel and Assessment Projects see a therapeutic carer travel one on one with a young person. The time frame can range from 4 weeks to 4 months or more. The young person and the carer plan the project together, they do life travelling together.
Potential activities a young person could experience whilst traveling include surfing, horse riding, snorkeling, art classes, hiking, camping, volunteering and so much more. All the while the young person is forming a true and genuine connection with a caring and therapeutic adult.
Benefits from Travel and Assessment Projects include:
Increased social and emotional skills
Positive lived experiences with memories to share
Visiting extended family members
Gaining semi-independent living skills such as budgeting and cooking skills
One on one support and attention for young people with experienced therapeutic carers
