About PIC

The people who get involved with PIC have typically either considered care work or done it previously. Not everyone is willing or able to share their home with a young person and it is something you need to consider carefully.

As caring professionals, we’re typically told not to form a personal bond with those we care for. PIC carers share our belief that healthy attachment is both natural and vital to the success of the work.

PIC carers tend to be people who like to work autonomously and enjoy the freedom to tailor the therapeutic interventions to the young person.

Our carers are often people who have a background in a range of different therapeutic modalities themselves and/or understand the value and potential of these kinds of supports. Examples of the kinds of therapeutic intervention that have informed approaches with different young people include adventure-based social work, music and art therapy, animal and equine therapy. It’s all about matching the approach to the child.
